Northern Harrier
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with 218-431 mm annual precipitation, no ponderosa pine forest, and more than 55% of their area as public land. Almost equally likely to occur in hexagons with more than 4% ponderosa pine forest, and in moister hexagons (431-683 mm annual precipitation) that have more than 1% agricultural lands. Among hexagons that are even wetter (683-1511 mm annual precipitation), the species is most likely to occur where the extent of public land is less than 22% or where there is greater public land acreage and more than 1% of the hexagon contains freshwater habitat. In the wettest part of its Oregon range (more than 1511 mm annual precipitation), it occurred in hexagons with any coastal dunes and ponds. The logistic regression analysis showed positive or negative association with sagebrush steppe, number of land cover types, the extent of public land, April maximum temperature (hex. min.), April precipitation (hex. med.), and-to a lesser degree-total freshwater habitat and July precipitation (hex. avg.).
